Scientist for Congress, One Year Later

RONKONKOMA, N.Y.—Democratic Congressional Candidate Elaine DiMasi (NY-01) released the following statement yesterday after submitting her ballot petition:
“Last year, I marched for science, right here in New York’s 1st. Our march joined the national movement, and everyone that day learned that scientists also carried the dream of running for public office, even Congress! Today, my team submitted over two thousand ballot petition signatures to the Suffolk County Board of Elections—the next step in making our dream come true! To my volunteers who carried out this work: you have made me a candidate, not simply a “hopeful” who filed a form and wrote a press release. I will remember this for the rest of my life!”
The DiMasi for Congress campaign submitted more than 2,000 signatures, and Elaine personally witnessed 218 signatures! Volunteers traveled from Smithtown to Southampton, and we’ve found that the voters all want the same thing. The 1st Congressional District of New York is in need of something new, a new pair of eyes and hands tackling our everyday problems. Elaine DiMasi is fully committed to championing evidence-based policies in Washington.
